Slow repaint

I've been checking out the ChrisTec Managed Today Screen Item Framework (CMTSIF). I've been fiddling about with it and discovered that when I have quite a big (240x125) UserControl and I do various paint strings on it whenever the UserControl gets repainted (this.Paint += ...) my PDA gets a bit slow in its other operations.
Is this a PDA C# limitation? Or am I causing some weird loop? (Paint event -> paint on the form)
I'm using a LG KS20.

Maybe it's the complexity of the control, but I haven't noticed any slowdown.  I'm drawing 3 strings and one 25x25 image to my control, which is only 240x35.  But I'm pretty impressed with how well it's working.

Have you tried just hosting your usercontrol in a form to try it out?  That might help you determine if it's some issue with the today screen or this framework.
